Shock and grief engulfed Sironga trading centre in Bogichora, Nyamira County after a body of a 23-year-old man was found in a tea plantation.
The man is said to have been missing from his home for three days.
Confirming the incident, the area chief Masi Laban said the body had several injuries, indicating that he might have been stabbed severally before being dumped in one Zacharia Tong’i's tea farm.
The chief said the body of the deceased was discovered by Tong’i, who was going to pick his tea on Thursday morning before calling other neighbours and chief upon seeing the body.
“Tong'i reported the incident to his neighbours and friends who informed the area’s village elder, Francis Ombuya who called me to report the incident,” said chief Laban.
Police officers from Nyamira station rushed to the scene and recovered the body before transferring it to Nyamira Hospital mortuary where a post-mortem will be carried out to enable parents, relatives, the community and security agencies unravel the exact cause of death.
Area deputy police boss Dan Githinji told journalists the deceased’s father, Paul Oyaro had on Wednesday evening informed police officers about the disappearance of his son.
He said they have launched investigations into the death of the man identified as Eric Oyaro.
