CMC Motors on Monday evening launched the new Holland TS 6 110 tractor at Simba Club in Kisumu.
Speaking during the event, Kisumu Governor Jack Ranguma said that Kisumu is growing in agriculture, one of the pillars his government is trying to push ahead to achieve food security.
"We believe that CMC Motors is a key player in the economy of Kisumu. As a farmer, I also use CMC New Holland, I found them to be reliable and I have no hesitation in recommending them," said Ranguma.
He said that the county is moving towards reducing the cost of production for sugarcane which is one of the main economic activities in the county.
"It is important that we encourage the investment of efficient equipment to continue in partnership with Kisumu County," he said.
Ranguma said that such investments make Kisumu competitive in terms of sugar production.
CMC Motors Group Chief Finance Officer Wanjau Wahome said that the company has been in Kisumu for decades and the launch in Kisumu is not by chance.
"If you look into our network, we are more in the western region. Our key sector is agriculture which is driven in North Rift Valley and the sugar belt in western Kenyan," said Wahome.
He added: "The New Holland tractor is specifically designed to cater for the Kenyan sugar cane farmers."
