A cobbler who on Monday pleaded guilty before a Nakuru court for handling narcotics has been fined Sh 30,000 or six months in jail.
Thomas Maina was accused of being in possession of 260 grams of bhang in Heshima area, Bahati constituency.
The report from the probation officers was on Thursday presented before court and indicated that Maina had no any other problem in the society.
Police received information from the area chief that the accused was suspected of peddling bhang by villagers at his shoe-repair workshop.
The police on Friday July 10, in accompany of the area chief went Maina’s place of work and conducted a search.
They recovered bhang hidden in a black plastic bag consequently arresting him and holding him at Bahati police station.
Appearing before chief magistrate, Doreen Mulekyo on Monday, Maina pleaded guilty and said that he smokes the bhang himself. He pleaded with the court for lenience saying he was a single parent.
Maina on Friday said that the kids are in isolation back at home and he prayed the court forgives and give him a fine that he will manage to raise.
The court fined him Sh 30,000 or six months in jail.
