Kisii County Commissioner has assured commercial banks of adequate security to avert robberies.

This comes after banks association led by John Momanyi urged the county government and the commissioner to relocate hawkers who sell their commodities near banks.

According to Momanyi, hawkers make the places to be congested and insecure to banks customers.

"We are urging the county government and security agencies to help us secure our banks and relocate hawkers who sell near banks," said Momanyi.

County Commissioner Chege Mwangi said measures will be put in place to ensure security at banks.

“We are going to put measures to make sure that hawkers who sell near banks are relocated, this should be done in an orderly manner after holding talks with the county government to avoid conflicts," said Mwangi.

He also urged members of the public to report any incidences of illegal activities to the relevant authorities.

Mwangi was speaking at the Gusii Stadium on Tuesday during Mashujaa Day celebrations.
