Nakuru County Commissioner Mohammed Birik has asked security officers to pursue and apprehend criminal gangs causing residents sleepless nights in some parts of the county.
Speaking to journalists at Central Police Station in Nakuru on Friday, Birik asked law enforcers in the county not to relax until they ensure that there is security in their areas.
He asked the the law enforcers to up their game and increase surveillance so as to guarantee residents of their safety.
Birik told the police not to give criminals chance to cause problems. “I have directed law enforcers in the county to pursue criminals and make sure that there is security in estates, villages and towns across the county,” he said.
The County Commissioner said that police have a duty to protect Kenyans adding that cases of lawlessness or crime should not be witnessed in the county.
He also asked OCPDs, OCSs, police inspectors and AP Commanders and chiefs in the county to take full charge of their areas in terms of security.
He said that security officials will be held responsible if they fail to guarantee security in the respective areas.
Birik at the same time asked the public to collaborate with the police and help them fight crime. He said that the public can help by providing information on people they suspect to be criminals.
