Teacher’s staff room at Nyaronge primary school that was partly funded by CDF kitty from Kitutu Masaba and the area community has been unveiled as education stakeholders challenged teachers to up their efforts of imparting knowledge in the region.

Speaking on Thursday during the launching ceremony, academicians led by Kisii University’s Dr Stella Omari urged teachers to come up with new tactics of approaching the ever dynamic education system in a bid to improve the performance in the region.

They also called upon the Teachers Service Commission to consider transferring teachers who have overstayed in different stations in a bid to expose them to a new teaching environment.

“We understand that the infrastructure in our schools is wanting but they will be improved by our leaders. What is important though is to ensure that our academic standards are improved and this can be done by our teachers,” Dr Omari said.

According to them the teacher’s employers TSC should also consider recruiting more teachers in the institutions around the entire Masaba North District in a bid to curb the acute shortage in subsequent improvement of performance.

“It is quite sad that TSC has a tendency of allowing a teacher to stay in a station for over ten years and this is completely unacceptable. They should transfer teachers to other regions for exposure. I would also wish to call upon the TSC to recruit more teachers to our district,” added Dr Abaya Ondigi.

The institution received Sh800,000 from Kitutu Masaba CDF kitty for the first time since it had been embroiled in a controversy over the location since it is allocated along Kitutu Masaba and Borabu border.
