Eldoret Catholic Church Bishop Cornelius Korir has called for proper scrutiny and deliberations on proposals that sex education be introduced in schools.

The Bishop says that for such proposals to be implemented, it must pass through scrutiny and have the consent of stakeholders, the church included.

He said the issue of introducing sex education in schools is critical and should not be handled casually.

Speaking to journalists in Eldoret Town on Sunday, the Bishop urged drafters of the Bills seeking to introduce sex education in schools to consult widely.

Korir said the Catholic Church will vehemently oppose such Bills and proposals if enough consultations are not done.

He said the church will not allow erosion of values and principles of students adding that the church will continue to fights acts it feels are immoral.

Korir lashed out at parents accusing them of neglecting their parental roles.

“It’s unfortunate that parents have abandoned their responsibilities and bestowed them to other people,” he said.

The Catholic Bishop wondered how parents can trust and allow some people to educate their children on matters sex adding that parents should be the ones to guide their kids on matters of sexuality.
