Uasin Gishu County Public Service Board chairman Joseph Tanui has cautioned residents against falling prey to con men who purport to be staff of the board with the promise that they will get jobs for them or their relatives.
Speaking during the launch of the health strategic plan in Eldoret on Wednesday, Tanui said he has received reports that there are con men who swindle money from unsuspecting residents with the promise of hiring them.
"I am issuing a stern warning to individuals who con Uasin Gishu residents by promising them jobs as county workers. As the public service board, we only employ people on merit; we are fair in our selection and no money is paid. Anyone taking money is not in my board he/she is a thief," he said.
He urged residents to stay vigilant and report such individuals to the public service board, stating that stern actions will be taken against them since all county citizens have the right to apply for any job.
