Uasin Gishu County government has initiated plans to improve education standards in the region.

Deputy Governor Daniel Chemno said the county government's Education ministry has intensified inspection and supervision of schools to enhance effective teaching and learning.

He further disclosed that education officials have been posted to various schools in the county to inspect and supervise how teachers discharge their duties.

Chemno, however, revealed that education officials in the county have put mechanisms in place to improve results in this year's Kenya Certificate and Primary Examinations and Kenya Certificate of Secondary Examinations in the county.

"Policies have been put in place to strengthen the students' council to avoid unrest such as strikes that have been witnessed recently in our secondary schools," he said.

Chemno advised teachers to work hard and ensure better results in the national exams.

The deputy governor was speaking on Sunday in Eldoret town at the County government offices.
