Nyamira Governor has reiterated his commitment to supporting students in various institutions of higher learning in the county.

Speaking on Sunday in his official residence when he hosted student leaders from various institutions, Governor John Nyagarama said the education department in the county had prepared a budget that will see needy students receive bursaries.

He challenged the students to be innovative and help the county develop by applying their university education practically and cautioned them against being used by politicians.

“I want to reiterate my commitment to ensuring education is boosted and that is why we set aside Sh120m for the purpose of issuing bursaries to our students. That is an indication that my leadership is education oriented and I want to encourage you to be innovative and help us move ahead,” he said.

Governor Nyagarama said the department of education will start giving out application forms for bursaries before the end of September adding that the most vulnerable will be given the first priority.

“By the end of this month, you will receive application forms and I am sure of that. All I want to emphasise is that we will give the neediest students first priority and that must be respected,” said Nyagarama.
