Kisumu government has been challenged to promote industrialisation by setting up more industries as well as wooing investors in the region.
According to Kisumu County Voice spokesperson Audi Ogada, the move will create jobs for the residents as well as transform the county into an industrial hub.
Audi noted that it is through the promotion of industries that residents can grow and also be innovative in initiating new ventures that will give them opportunities to exploit their expertise.
He further challenged the government to set aside resources to market the county as an industrial destination.
“Let us create opportunities to our residents by setting up industries that would create job opportunities to them and lift them from the shackles of poverty,” Ogada told Hivisasa on Tuesday.
Owen Njoroge echoed Audi’s sentiments and added that the county government should create institutions that would impart a sense of belonging and hospitalisation to its citizens for them to accept new developers.
Through this, they would have access to job opportunities in their areas of expertise, he said.
