The Nyamira County commissioner has lauded provincial administrators and police officers from the county for working devotedly to combat crimes.
Speaking on Thursday evening at Chepilat Township during a meeting with area community leaders, Josephine Onwong’a said her office had received fewer crime-related cases.
She urged locals to work closely with security officers to give any available information about gangs that he says are operating in the township.
“I want to say that our officers have really worked very well with the local administration. We have been receiving a few incidents here in Borabu and that is why I call upon the local community to work with the police to avert such incidents,” she said.
According to her, the month of September saw only 10 serious cases reported in comparison to 30 cases that were reported in the month of August.
“The police officers responded in time and I can confirm suspects were arraigned in court and a number of them were convicted,” she added.
Onwong’a hailed elders from the Kipsigis and Abagusii community for rallying for peace among area residents to significantly reduce cases of cattle rustling.
“Borabu-Sotik border is no longer the region that people used to know. We no longer hear of cattle rustling and this is due to good work by community elders and police officers. I want to urge you to continue living in harmony,” she said.
