The government will immediately sack teachers and tutors who defile and molest their students especially in Primary schools, Deputy President William Ruto has said.

Speaking during a fundraising drive at Kambala Secondary School in Nakuru on Friday, Ruto said that the government will not allow or tolerate rogue teachers who defile or molest their students.

He said the government has put in place measures to curb child defilement in schools. The DP warned that teachers found or implicated in defilement cases will be sacked immediately.

“The government is not going to allow rogue teachers to mistreat or harm children. We are taking appropriate measures towards curbing defilement and other vices against children,” he said.

The DP urged school heads to monitor the behaviours of teachers and report any suspicious characters to the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) for action.

Ruto said that cases of teachers defiling their students are on the rise in some parts of the country adding the government will stamp them out.

He noted that schools are places where children are supposed to get knowledge and that anyone found infringing on the rights of children will be dealt with accordingly.

On the same note, the DP warned parents who force their underage girls to marry saying they risk arrest and prosecution.

Ruto said that every child must be given an opportunity to go to school and get knowledge and skills.
