Students from Masaba South sub county have been warned against engaging in irresponsible sexual behaviors at the expense of their education and careers.
The Kenya National Union of Teachers (Knut) Masaba Branch Executive Secretary Meshack Obonyo has warned students from the area against engaging in immoral activities, especially irresponsible sexual behaviours that could jeopardise their education.
Speaking on Wednesday at Boburia village, Getacho sub location during the burial of the late Mr Tom Nyagaka, Mr Obonyo regretted that many brilliant careers had been lost due to irresponsible sexual behaviours among students.
"I am warning school children that engaging in immoral behaviors will not only expose you to diseases such as HIV/AIDS and other sexually transmitted diseases, but will also cut short your future, education and career to the disadvantage of your parents and the society," he warned.
Obonyo tipped students on the importance of taking their education seriously, reminding them that excelling in education promises a bright future and success in life.
He noted that engaging in such activities squanders studying time leading to poor performances in national exams.
This comes a few days after 550 students were arrested by police in an Eldoret pub after being found abusing drugs and alcohol and also engaging in sexual activities.
