The elderly have been urged to register for the medical cover to help them access easy and quick medication whenever they fall sick.
Speaking Wednesday during an event to mark the International Day of Older Persons at the Kibera social grounds, Mary Kimathi from the Labour ministry said the old people should not be left out from the National Hospital Insurance Fund because the fund caters for all people.
“Old people are also allowed to take the health cover. You should not fear it. Feel free and use some of the money given to you by the government to register. This cover will come in handy especially when you fall sick,” the labour official said.
The old people have also been advised to take fingerprints so as to make it easy for them to get help from the government.
Approximately 1,000 old people from Nairobi County attended the function.
