Farmers in Bosamaro have been urged to adopt crop rotation over seasons to increase their production.

According to Kenya Agricultural Research Institute (Kari) representative Mr Julius Mokaya during his tour on various farms in Bosamaro, crop rotation protects soil wealth and tide over water scarcity.

He said those who practice crop rotation get bumper harvests in all seasons.

"Crop rotation enriches the soil and ensures farmers get good harvests in all seasons," said Mokaya.

The officer also advised farmers to use organic fertilizers, saying organic fertilizers improve soil nutrient content. 

Mr John Ondicho, a farmer in Bosamaro said he has frequently practiced crop rotation and has been reaping big.

Ondicho says he has planted crops like bananas, indigenous vegetables, maize, soya beans and passion fruits. 

"I have continued to get high yields ever since i started doing crop rotation," he said.

Farmers in Nyamira county are now adopting to various latest agricultural technologies a move that will see a great increase and secure the county from food security.
