Kiambu County Health CeC Jonah Mwangi has revealed that the Eddah’s Hope Cancer Foundation will tour Thika Level 5 Hospital on a mission to support cancer patients.
The event which kicks off on September 11 aims to support the cancer soldiers and spread love, hope and have fun while fighting the killer disease at the hospital’s palliative care unit.
Speaking in Thika town on Friday, the CeC expressed concern over the increase in the number of cancer patients in the county.
He urged residents to go for health checks to fight cancer at an early stage, saying early detection helps contain the disease.
He said that many patients realise they have the disease when it’s at an advanced stage thereby siphoning resources to undergo chemotherapy.
He said the Eddah’s Hope Cancer Foundation will offering free services to cancer soldiers and urged residents to avail themeselve in large numbers for preventive measures and checkups.
Mwangi said he is working towards ensuring a healthy nation which will foster development in the county and improve its economic status and thus a healthy citizen is fundamental for the county’s vision.
He further called on well-wishers to assist the residents of Kiambu in fighting the disease which has killed many due to ignorance.
He also lauded the Kiambu Governor William Kabogo for his tremendous support to the health sector.
