Residents of Githobokoni Ward in Gatundu North have been asked to surrender the encroached public paths and feeder roads back to the county government.
Speaking in Gakoe Market on Wednesday during an agricultural show, Githobokoni MCA Moses Kiarie said he had received several complaints of people encroaching the roads and paths in the area.
This, he said, has forced many people to walk for long distances while going to the market, hospital or attending to their day-to-day activities away from the villages.
"I appeal to all the people here in Gakoe, Gachege, Mwimuto, Gathaithe, Gatei and Kieni Sub-Locations to return those paths and roads because when they were demarcated in the 1970's they were meant to cut long distances and facilitate penetration into the villages," said Kiarie.
The MCA also asked residents to stop planting trees near the roads saying that they prevent the roads from drying fast during the rainy season thus making the roads impassable.
