The Nakuru County Governor Kinuthia Mbugua has appealed to institutions of higher learning to give proper advice and career guidance to persons living with disabilities.
Kinuthia argued that the youths who were living with disabilities will need to be given attention when it came to career guidance.
“The disabled persons are abled differently and they also need to be given a clear path of how they should develop their skills and talents. Majority of the deaf people in the country are great entrepreneurs and run successful business. People who can’t use their hands and feet are seen to make great paint. We want to ensure that the disabled people know how much they are worth,” he added
Kinuthia was speaking in an exclusive interview at his office where he said that the county government was going to come up with a special education committee that would foresee the career guidance and counseling for people with special needs.
Kinuthia called upon the MCAs and churches and education institution to empower the youths in general with knowledge on the life after school, saying it was important for them to learn more life skills.
“As a county government we should also emphasize on ensuring that the youths in the area will be adequately prepared for the life they will find after school,” he added.
