The business community in Suneka and Nyambunwa towns in Bonchari Sub County has petitioned Kisii County government to repair the Suneka- Asumbi road urgently.

They described the state of the road as pathetic saying it often paralysed business activities and the general communication to and from the three towns.

Led by Mr Paul Mosioma, the traders who spoke to the press in Suneka town lamented the difficulties motorists undergo when transporting goods on the road saying their vehicles get stuck for hours every day.

The road has been made worse by the short rains adding it will get worse once elnino rains begin in the next few months.

“The county government in corroboration with the national government should honour its promise to upgrade the road to an all weather status. But before that, it should repair it to make it good,” said Mosioma.

He claimed that the previous governments ignored their request to have the road repaired for faster development.

“Apart from being problematic to ferrying of goods and especially the perishable farm produce, the road is also a death trap to many commuters who have lost their lives in accidents as a result of its bad state,” he added.

He said criminals had also taken advantage of the bad situation of the road to attack and rob motorists and commuters when vehicles slow down on that stretch of the road.
