Thika Town MP Alice Ng'ang'a has decried increased corruption in county governments which she said was affecting service delivery.

Ng'ang'a said many county government officials were quick to enrich themselves with public funds while leaving their residents in poverty.

Speaking in Makongeni, Thika, Ng'ang'a called for prosecution of county government officials involved in corruption.

"We devolved services not corruption. Those county government officials who have been looting public funds must be dealt with in accordance with the law," said the MP.

She also wants them to return back the stolen funds.

"Public funds are for public use. Those that have taken what is meant for the public must surrender it. Kenyans are being taxed right, left and centre by these governments yet the delivery of services is poor," she added.

The MP also called for the public to stand up and fight graft in both the national and county governments saying that greedy leaders should not be left to empty the public coffers anymore.
