A civil society organisation in Nakuru has faulted the Ministry of Education over this year's Kenya Certificate of Secondary Examination exam leakages.

The Center for Democracy and Good Governance has also called for legal action against the culprits involved in exam cheating that has marred this year’s KCSE.

Paul Masese , the agency's director said those tasked with guarding the national examination papers and those behind the malpractices should resign.

“We are calling for immediate resignations of those involved in the exams leakages to pave way for investigations,” said Masese.

Speaking on Monday in Nakuru town to media, Masese expressed concern over the scam and said the trend will lower credibility of education in the country.

"It will be unfair for students to sit the same exams when others have already revised the papers. This will kill moral of some students and lower the exams credibility,” he added.

However, the government has maintained its stand by denying the leakage of this year's KCSE examinations even as details emerged of more examination papers in circulation well before they are administered to candidates.

Education Cabinet Secretary Jacob Kaimenyi has refuted leakage claims insisting that the papers in circulation are fake.

But Masese now wants the government to cancel the ongoing KCSE exams.

“We want the government to cancel the exams to show commitment in fighting the vice and restore examination credibility,” said Masese.

There are allegations that question papers are sold through WhatsApp to potential candidates.
