A Juja sub-county doctor is on the run after the Kiambu county government officials and Thika police officers raided his business on Monday evening with a motive to apprehend him.
Doctor Daniel Karanja Muyia, who operates at Malaba dispensary in Witeithie ward, escaped narrowly after police in partnership with county officials were notified that he has been selling medicine from the dispensary.
According to the area administrator Mr. James Gichuru, the residents of Malaba and Kibute in Witeithie area notified him after they came across a new chemist in the area that the doctor operates.
They said that the dispensary which was officiated by the governor in March has been working without drugs and they haven’t seen any impact made by the health institution.
“There is no difference between going to the dispensary and the chemist. They prescribe but they don’t have drugs and we are forced to buy from the chemists,” one resident said.
The administrator noted that the county government has intensified the search on the missing medic saying that if arrested he will serve as an example to the rest of them who steal and sell the drugs in their personal chemists and clinics.
The residents alleged that they have always been sent to purchase the drugs from the chemist which the medic operates when off duty.
