Kiambu Governor William Kabogo has encouraged Lari youths to apply for the Biashara Fund and improve their livelihoods.
Speaking at Tigoni trading centre on Wednesday, Kabogo said the Biashara Fund has already benefited over 6000 people.
He said the fund does not discriminate and every Kiambu resident is eligible to get the funds.
The governor noted that while unemployment remains a serious issue, the existence of Biashara Fund will ensure youth become independent and improve their living standards.
“We as the county government are doing everything possible to address the issue of unemployment among our youth,” he said.
Kabogo said the county has partnered with several public and private organisations with the aim of creating jobs for the youths.
The Kiambu governor urged youths to be active and seek involvement in county affairs. He said youths will get exposure and skills if they seek to work with the government.
Kabogo also encouraged youths who have entrepreneurial ideas to present them to the government. He said that the county government will assess and fund realistic development ideas.
The governor also cautioned youths against being used by politicians to disrupt peace and cause trouble.
The governor said it is wrong for politicians to use young people to advance their political agendas.
