Kiambu County leaders are set to meet all the area second generation alcoholic drinks bar operators in a move to end the production and sale of the counterfeit drinks in the area.
This comes after Governor William Kabogo revoked all the licenses of bar operators selling wines and spirits in the area following President Uhuru's directive.
Speaking on Thursday in Kiambu, the county's Public Service Board and Administration Chairman Dominic Gicheru, said the county government will vet applicants to ensure they curb sale of illegal drinks and regulate the production of unlicensed drinks.
The officer said that he is delighted that the president is involved in this fight and has given a directive that is going to ease the fight against the selling and consumption of the brews.
"Kiambu County government is in full support of the fight against illicit brew but it should be done in a respective manner which doesn't involve destroying peoples' property," he said.
He cited the Kabete incident where the area MP Ferdinand Waititu stormed bars in the area and poured liquor.
Gicheru said a group of bar owners has been licensed to hold a peaceful demonstration today over the cancellation of their licenses.
Governor William Kabogo issued a stern warning against anyone intending to open their bars following the revoking of licenses saying he will not relent in his work.
