Kiambu County commissioner Esther Maina has issued orders for the arrest of the manufacturers of the two killer alcoholic drinks that claimed seven people in Kiandutu, Thika sub-county.
They are said to have dumped expired drinks in the area dated 2013 which were later collected by street children and sold to the Kiandutu people.
Speaking to the press on Wednesday from her office, the county commissioner said that the Kiambu police have apprehended the person who was paid to dump the drinks in the area and they are interrogating him as they pursue the managers of the companies who are on the run.
She added that through the intervention of NACADA, the county government of Kiambu has revoked licenses of the companies as they investigate how they were able to circulate their expired alcohol in the area.
NACADA Chairman who arrived in Thika after the deaths were reported, said that the county governments should be on the front-line in dealing with such incidences as they are the license issuers to the alcoholic manufacturing companies.
According to the Senior Nursing officer in Thika Level Five Hospital Rosemary Mwangi, most of the victims from the incident are in bad condition as they have consumed the alcohol to an extent of damaging their bodies' internal organs.
