Residents of Kiamokama region in Nyaribari Chache constituency have accused the county government of Kisii of alleged discrimination in the execution of developmental activities.
Speaking during the funeral of a local resident on Thursday, they accused the James Ongwae-led government for sidelining the region, making many residents fail to secure essential services that were devolved in the new dispensation of the county government.
They threatened to rally against the incumbent Governor if the leadership failed to rectify health and education crisis in the region.
“We have a right to complaint of shoddy services from the county government. Our schools and health facilities have been completely ignored despite the county government supporting them in other regions. We will oppose his re-election if they fail to rectify the situation,” said Moses Obange.
They also faulted the County Service Public Board for allegedly employing individuals from certain regions based on their allegiance to the county government during recruitment besides criticizing the County Assembly Service Board for also rewarding their friends.
“If you get a chance to visit many offices in Kisii County, you will definitely realize that something is not right at CASB and their sisters from CSPB. Recruitment to various positions is much skewed and our people have been definitely targeted,” added Charles Okinyi.
However, Kisii Assembly Majority Whip Henry Moracha urged residents to give the county government a chance to deliver on its promises.
“I do not want to defend the county government but it is still early to judge. Please give the county government time to deliver on its promises,” he said.
