Most feeder roads in Kibera are in a bad condition as the long rains being experienced in different parts of the country since October hit the slums.
Kibera residents Nairobi say they are having a hard time during this season wading through the mud and they are wary of a worse situation should the forecasted El Nino rains materialise.
"The feeder roads entering Kibera slums are impassable during this season. If the rains persist according to El Nino forecasts then we will have even harder times," says Philip Owino a Kibera resident.
Owino says the Roads and Transport department in Nairobi County should have improved the situation on the roads in the area before the onset of the long rains.
"Our leaders are doing nothing to improve the poor state roads and this will make them lose their seats come in the 2017 general elections," he added.
His wish and that of most Kibera residents is that the funds set aside to mitigate the effects of the anticipated El Nino rains will be utilised well.
