Kisii Central Sub-County Director of Education, Charles Osoti Nyaribo has said they are adequately prepared for the national examinations.
Speaking to this HiviSasa in his office, Nyaribo said they have identified supervisors and invigilators who will man the examinations.
He says, together with the county commissioner, safety measures have been aligned to ensure security prevails during examination period.
Nyaribo has expressed confidence that students will perform well saying that several candidates are studying diligently despite the ongoing teachers' strike.
“The ongoing strike will not interfere and affect the exam date. We are fully prepared for the forthcoming exams. Most of form four candidates are in schools revising for the exam that is set to begin with practicals in October,” said Nyaribo.
He said Kuppet and Knut officials attempted to disrupt learning on the second week of the strike but were overpowered.
“There is no big challenge except that teachers’ unions tried to disrupt learning in Kisii High and Kereri girls schools but they did not succeed. Security was immediately deployed in the schools to offer surveillance and arrest anybody interfering with learning in those schools,” he said.
However, Nyaribo admitted that teachers in primary schools have kept out of school due to fear of being accused of turncoats but said candidates are being assisted through revision by teachers employed by Parent Teachers Association (PTA).
