Youths in Langas Estate in Eldoret want the county government to educate them on how to apply for the 30 per cent state tenders allocated to marginalised groups.

The youths claim that they have no information on how to go about in securing the tenders.

Speaking to HiviSaSa on Wednesday, Peter Kariuki, a student at a local university said most youths have no clue on how to apply for the tenders.

Kariuki said that youths will be better informed if they are educated on the procedures to follow in seeking the tenders.

“Our leaders are asking us (youths) to apply for tenders and fail to tell us the procedure and the requirements needed,” he said.

Susan Chepkosgei noted that while the tenders are important for them, and most youths will apply for the tenders if they are sensitised on how to apply for them.

She intimated that the government has a responsibility to educate its citizens on the various programmes it has put in place.

The youth further want their leaders to fulfill the promises they made during the 2013 election campaigns on job creation.

The youth say that the leaders promised them jobs during the 2013 election campaigns which they are yet to deliver.

“Our leaders should not take us for granted they must fulfill the promises they made to us,” said Martin Cheboi.

The youth appealed to Langas Ward Representative Francis Muya to ensure that they get jobs.
