West Mugirango aged persons are a happy lot after their complaints of 'discrimination' on allocation and receipt of older persons cash reached Nairobi-based lawyer Denis Anyoka, who intervened to make sure their needs are handled.

Speaking to this writer, Anyoka said that he was on September second forced to write a letter to the Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of Labour, Hon Kazungu Kambi, a letter he copied to the Attorney General to inquire on why older persons from West Mugirango were not receiving monthly cash emoluments through the older persons cash transfer programme.

"As a concerned aspiring MP in West Mugirango constituency, I was on forced to write a letter to Labour CS Kazungu Kambi, of which was copied to Attorney General Githu Muigai inquiring on why our people were not receiving their monthly emoluments," said Anyoka.

The Nairobi-based lawyer further said that in a rejoinder letter from the Ministry of Labour, he was notified that the area patron, who happens to be the current West Mugirango MP Dr James Gesami was 'to blame' for lack of disbursement of such monies.

"The letter I received from the Ministry of Labour clearly indicated that the Area MP was supposed to handle the issue and on further follow up, Gesami was forced to ensure the aged receive their money," added Anyoka.

He commended the national government for such an initiative as it is meant to help the aged persons for they are in a prime age of unproductivity.

"I commend our government for ensuring that our old people get something small to cater for their monthly needs since they are now unproductive," Anyoka concluded.
