Nakuru Governor Kinuthia Mbugua has reassured young people of his commitment towards involving them in realising his campaign pledges.
Speaking at the Nakuru national library American corner on Friday during the governor’s engagement forum during the ongoing Youth week, Kinuthia asked the youth to take up any available opportunities and forge ahead.
"Don't just complain, make an initiative to look for these opportunities and be ready to take up the challange," he said, adding that the problem of young minds was that they were too engaged with that which don't add value to their lives.
The governor accused young people at complaining too much at the expense of doing constructive activities that could see them become self reliant.
"You complain of not being given chances while in real sense, you never applied for the post; now, who is to blame? he posed.
The governor called on youth to make use of his executives and directors in different ministries so as to be part of the desired change.
"We have an open door policy where anybody is free to enter a public office for partnership, funding or constructive dialogue," he said.
With the theme 'Youth civic engagement' the Youth week is set to end Saturday with a gala night at the Nakuru performers theatre.
