The Constitution guarantees the Bill of Rights for every citizen. To children such rights include the right to education.
Every disabled child has a right to education too. This is the reason why parents of Melody Moraa took her to school. The parents now have a reason to smile after their child gave a moving speech on how the teachers strike affected children in schools.
Moraa who spoke on Friday during the Kibera education day had her sentences well constructed and moved the hearts of those present among them teachers, parents and Members of Parliament.
"Due to the teachers strike, I am sure many schools will not complete the syllabus. Yes, the pupils will have to struggle by reading on their own so that they can cover the syllabus to avoid failing exams. Because of the strike, many pupils will have to repeat classes because they will perform poorly," said the soft spoken Moraa.
Moraa, a pupil at Little Rock Inclusive School said many pupils object child labour.
She also said since the teachers were not in schools, pupils who had reported were bullied by others. She, however, concluded her speech by urging the government to be paying teachers to avoid strikes.
Moraa received a standing ovation from those who attended the event.
