Traders at Tala market in Matungulu Sub-County have a reason to smile after the County Government of Machakos promised to complete the road project in the town.
Speaking in his office on Friday, Matungulu Sub-County administrator Victor Kiatu said that proper arrangements were being made to ensure the projects which have stalled for years are re-launched.
"I would wish to reassure Tala traders that all the stalled road projects will be completed as soon as possible since the work is set to start anytime from now,” he said.
Kiatu also confirmed that all the drainage tunnels in the town will be unblocked to encourage free flow of dirty water.
The sub-county administrator also observed that the government is planning to construct a public toilet at the market with negotiation between the county and Matungulu Kangundo Water and Sewerage Company (MAKAWASCO) underway to kick-start the project.
"We have already started unblocking some of the drainage systems since we are aware of the situation during heavy rains. We are also planning to construct toilets to enable traders access the facility without paying for it,” he promised.
This comes two days after the Gala market traders aired their grievances to the county government through their chairlady Anna Kyalo requesting for the completion of all stalled road projects in the Town.
