Mr Joseph Muasya from Kakuyuni village in Kangundo lamented that he had bought seedlings at his own expense and gone ahead to plant in his 3 acre piece of land after the weatherman announced onset of El Nino rains.

"It is not in order for the experts to announce rains and go further and advice on planting and yet after 3 weeks no rain has been experienced," lamented Muasya.

Mr David Mumo, also a farmer in Yatta Constituency said that he feared the seedlings would soon start rotting under the soil if El Nino turned out to be a hoax.

"We planted immediately El Nino rains were announced because we wanted to have a great harvest but we are disappointed that the rains are taking longer unlike the predictions by the weatherman," he added.

This comes after a world wide announcement was made about the onset of El Nino rains from early October.
