Police are investigating an incident in which a 32-year-old man allegedly committed suicide in Gatwekera village in Kibera.

The man identified as Geoffrey Makori was found dead by neighbours early Thursday morning with a wire tied around his neck.

According to witnesses, the man is said to have had domestic differences with the wife who has allegedly been having an affair with another man.

"I went to knock on his door in the morning thinking that he had overslept. I was forced to break in after he failed to respond for several minutes. I was shocked to find the man hanging on a wire dead. His wife was not in because they had quarreled over claims that she was unfaithful," said Elijah Nyakundi, a neighbour who also said that the he has been taking care of the deceased's two children since the wife left.

The father of two is said to have undergone emotional torture after his wife's 'lover' received his call on Wednesday evening and insulted him.

This was worsened by the fact that their kids had the knowledge of what had been transpiring all along,

"We have heard that he was insulted over the phone on Wednesday evening by his wife's lover who stays in Jamhuri estate; to make the matter worse, one of his children had directed him to the house where the mother goes for extra-marital affair," added Nyakundi.

The wife who identified herself as Gladys arrived at the scene immediately after being informed of her husband's death.

She, however, did not want to confirm the allegations as either true or false although she acknowledged that they had separated three weeks ago after the husband allegedly assaulted her.

"The last time we were together was three weeks ago when he beat me up following some domestic differences. He called me yesterday evening but I did not pick his call only to be informed this morning that he had committed suicide," said Gladys.

The body of the deceased was ferried away by police, with Kilimani OCPD Peter Kattam confirming on the phone that investigations are underway.
