A man has been remanded in custody by Thika Chief Magistrate, Stephen Mbugi for defiling his six year-old daughter .

The suspect was charged with committing the offence on diverse dates between June 24 and August 17 at Kiandutu slums in Thika.

James is said to have lured her daughter into the act after buying her a chocolate worth Sh 10. He then warned her that if she told anyone she would be beaten.

According to the minor's mother who had gone for a women's meeting on August 17, 2015 , the daughter started experiencing vaginal pains and it’s after a police consultation that the girl agreed to inform the mother.

She was taken to Thika Level Five Hospital on August 18, 2015 and her father was arrested and taken to Kiandutu police station before he was brought to court on Wednesday. Hearing was fixed on September 16.

In the same court, a man was charged with infringing a child’s right to education. Joseph Mumu was accused of failing to pay school fees for his daughters aged, 16, 6 and 17 on diverse dates in June and August 2015.

The Magistrate ordered that the accused be remanded in custody after failing to raise Sh35,000 bond with a surety of a similar amount.

The hearing was fixed on September 17, 2015.
