A man was on Monday arraigned before a Nakuru court for allegedly raping a 97-year- old woman.
Charles Kibunja denied before Nakuru Chief Magistrate Doreen Mulekyo that he raped the woman on June 21 in Block two, Naishi in Njoro District.
Prosecutor Martin Rabera argued that the court should not release him on bond until the complainant testified because he is still a threat to the victim.
"Considering that the complaint is aged, she is vulnerable. I urge the court to keep the suspect in custody until complainant testifies. The court must ensure her safety regarding the matter in court," Rabera said.
The court ordered that he stays in custody until the complainant testifies then the bond terms will be considered.
The case will be mentioned on July 13 and heard on August 4.
