Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago has urged counties to champion for public participation in the decision making process.
Mandago said embracing public participation will enable counties prioritise their activities.
The governor further pointed out the need for civic education saying it is it will encourage the upholding of constitutionalism.
“Members of the public are the foundation for the development of the county and for devolution to succeed, they should be involved in every step,” said county boss.
On her part, the Salaries and Remuneration Commission boss Sarah Serem urged the public to study the track record of the people they elect as their leaders.
She further urged the public to report any cases of misuse of state funds to the relevant institutions for action to be taken the individuals involved.
The two were speaking in Eldoret on Wednesday during the 4th Annual Congress of Chairpersons of Constitutional Commissions and Independent Offices at the County Hall.
