Boda-boda operators in Maseno expressed their joy after they resumed business as usual on Friday morning. The Boda-boda business had come to a standstill after fire burnt down some of the Maseno University offices hence causing unrest among the students.

The students are the main customers to the Boda-boda operators as they provide them with transport services between Siriba and the campus which are far apart from each other. Speaking in an interview, Fred Ogutu, one of the operators said that he gets his livelihood from the business.

Mike Omondi, another operator also said that he had made very meager income from the business the previous day as the students hardly came for the service.

“Many preferred to walk and this threatened my family’s income”’ he said.

On another note, Joyce Awino, a student from the university said the operators deserved the experience.

“I really hope they have realised how important we are and that they should treat us with dignity and provide us with clean helmets," she said.

The operators are optimistic that they will make more money today to cover up for what they lost yesterday as the students continue with their studies as usual.
