A section of youth at Kiogoro ward in Kisii County have accused the area MCA of influencing the awarding of tenders in favour of a road construction company allegedly associated with him.

Speaking on Sunday during a burial ceremony, Mr Augustine Michira, a youth leader, took Samuel Apoko head on temporarily disrupting the burial.

According to them, Perth Engineering Group has won at least five tenders to construct feeder roads in the ward despite there being several other companies owned by youth from the ward.

“Something isn’t right in our tendering process at Kisii county. It is weird that our people especially the youth cannot be awarded tenders to construct feeder roads despite them being able to. What is so shocking is that one company is always considered in the tendering process,” he said.

They threatened to expose the MCA for claims of exaggerating the cost of the road projects at the expense of development in the ward.

“He (Apoko) is given the tender by the county government as a scheme to steal from county residents. They exaggerate the values to make huge profits,” he added.

However, Apoko dissociated himself from the company in question accusing the youth of incriminating him wrongfully.

“I am suprised that my opponents can use the youth to bring me down. I don’t even know the company in question and the people to be asked the questions are at Kisii Town,” he said.
