Hospital Ward MCA Mwangi Wamwangi has urged the Kiambu County government to initiate more empowerment programmes for youth, women and persons living with disabilities to curb the criminal incidences in the area.
The MCA said that empowering the marginalised groups will help fight poverty, diseases and unemployment among other challenges thus taming the criminal cases that are being reported.
He noted that marginalized groups need support, from both the county and the national government, so that they can contribute to national development thus the government should think of better ways of giving them empowerment.
The legislator added that the incidences of foiling he public meetings by irate youths is due to lack of knowledge and idleness and they should be kept busy to ensure such activities are tamed completely.
He was speaking in Thika when he tried calming the irate residents who frogmarched the county officials who were conducting the public participation of the Kiambu financial bill draft to the county government offices.
Mwangi called on the county government to release the Biashara fund kitty which the residents applied for last year and has never been disbursed up to this moment. He said that the delay has inconvenienced the activities and plans of many groups in the area.
He said that the youths will not be calmed down by a word of mouth each time they protest over anything as they need jobs.
