Hells Gate MCA Jonathan Warothe has demanded that Keroche Breweries products be tested afresh to ensure they have met the required standards.

Warothe was speaking at the brewery's gate yesterday when he and the Naivasha MP, John Kihagi, led the area residents to destroy what they alleged was sub-standard spirits by the brewery. They were, however, not let in by the police.

"Nothing can be compared with human life. Not the expensive machines or these buildings. So those spirits must be tested again by the relevant agencies to prove their suitability," Warothe told the press.

The MCA said that they will have no problem with the spirits if found to be okay.

Keroche Breweries CEO Tabitha Karanja, while appearing on Citizen TV last night, vowed not to let in anybody at the brewery's premises, saying that if anybody is interested with destroying her products, they must ask the government to compensate her.

"We are not ready to waste our money. Kihagi must ask the Treasury to refund our taxes before raiding our premises," said Karanja.

The spirit in question goes by the brand name 'Crescent' and it is among the 362  spirits and wines the government has suspended their licences.
