Kiambu County nominated MCA Wanjiku Kibe has reiterated her commitment in the fight against Sexual Gender Based Violence (SGBV) in Kiambu County.
Speaking to journalists on Tuesday in Kiambu Town, Kibe who took a motion to the county assembly last month to address the issue of SGBV said that cases of sexual offence being meted on young girls and women in the county are still rampant.
"We cannot underscore the issue of SGBV against girls and women which is happening on a daily basis. Many cases go unreported and that is why I cannot relent on this fight," said Wanjiku.
The MCA also said that she will ensure that a toll free line which victims can use to seek assistance is created by the relevant county department.
"The motion that I took to the county assembly in early June has this proposal and am still awaiting its implementation," she added.
Wanjiku said a visit to many hospitals in the county shows how sorry the situation is.
"We still have large numbers of SGBV victims around which is why I took the motion to the county assembly," she said.
