Molo Sub County Administration Police Commandant, Joseph Mwangi has called on residents to provide information that will aid the police to arrest suspected criminals and other lawbreakers.

Speaking to boda boda riders and residents of Molo town on Wednesday Mwangi said that police need tip offs to effectively deal with criminals. The AP commandant said that criminals could be hiding among the citizens.

“We need your help to be able to deal effectively with law breakers,” he said, adding that police have mopped out an operation to get rid of suspected criminals.

Mr Mwangi added that an operation to flush out criminals is in the pipeline.

He said that his office had received complaints from a section of businessmen and residents about deteriorating security in some estates.

The AP commandant warned criminals telling them to surrender before they are caught.

“The law will take its course on criminals’ and law breakers who think they can turn this area into a crime zone,” he said.

On Monday, a body of 13 year old boy who had gone missing three days was found dumped in a thicket in Molo town.

The body of the boy was discovered on Tuesday as residents accused the police of laxity in providing security.

Residents claim that cases of crime have gone up in some parts of the town and want the police to beef up surveillance and arrest suspected criminals.

A section of locals have further accused the police of not willing to contain crime. They said that cases of crime have increased in the past three months.

Japheth Mutua, a resident decried rising in crime saying that locals are no longer felt safe.

“Molo police are reluctant to fight criminals who are instilling fear in us,” he said. The resident alleged that a notorious gang is causing havoc in the area and called for frequent police frequent patrols.
