Kitutu Masaba MP has received a backing from an estimated 400 students from area institutions of higher learning in a meeting that was held on Tuesday evening at Kisii Hotel.

Led by Kitutu Masaba Universities and Colleges Students' Association chairman Mr Erick Mwambi, they hailed Mr Timothy Bosire for ‘equity and transparency’ on Constituency Development Fund (CDF) kitty usage, with at least all applicants during the MP's term benefiting from the kitty.

They promised to support Bosire's agenda on education and threatened to protest against politicians who were allegedly hampering development projects initiated by the legislator.

“We are here as members and representatives of students from Kitutu Masaba and let no one claim that we have been sponsored by politicians. We want to express our satisfaction in the management of CDF kitty especially in supporting students in higher learning institutions. Nearly all applicants in 2014/15 budget were allocated equal amounts of money,” Mwambi said.

They said the students league was keen in giving back to the society by holding motivational talks in every secondary school from the region to challenge students to up their performance in national exams.

“We are not going to relent until the dark forces always putting the MP on persistent political contests are dealt with. He has performed well because by supporting education, he has shown willingness to lift living standards of people. As the student league, we will work with him by conducting motivational talks in secondary schools,” he added.

According to them, extremely needy students were being awarded up to Sh20,000, with moderate needy students being awarded Sh10,000.
