Speaking when he disbursed bursary funds worth Sh2.7 million, the legislator said the current generation is losing focus at tender age and there is need to model them at their young age.

He said guidance and counseling would help the teachers deal with students' problems and be able to deal with them before they went out of hand. The MP said most of the fire cases that are reported in schools were arson attacks where students including girls take part and counseling would encourage openness between student and teachers. He called on parents and teachers to support their children emotionally mostly by rewarding them anytime they do better or improve on their work."The students should be rewarded as it motivates them. If you please them they will be in good and the fires will be a thing of the past in Yatta schools. I stand by them in this time of their examinations and will reward them as I have been doing if they make the results better than last year," he said.
