Nakuru Catholic Diocese Bishop Maurice Muhatia has urged students to shun drugs and concentrate on their studies to excel in national exams.

Speaking on Friday at Upper Hill Secondary School in Nakuru Town during special prayers for Form Four candidates, Muhatia said that consumption of lethal liquor and drugs among the students is on the rise and called on all stakeholders in education sector to address the issue.

“There is need for all players in the education sector to come up with ways of curbing consumption of lethal liquor and drugs among students,” said Muhatia.

Muhatia noted that the culture of using drugs among students has ruined many of them and urged them to keep off from the vice.

“Students should heed advice from parents and teachers and stop using drugs to ensure they are responsible members of society,” he said.

The cleric also called on the government to play a pro active role in ensuring those selling drugs to students are apprehended.

“Drug peddlers should be dealt with as they are enemy of our society,” said Muhatia.
