Joshua Nkanatha is the new County Commissioner of Nakuru in the latest senior internal security officials' transfers announced by Interior cabinet secretary Joseph Nkaissery.
While announcing the transfers, Nkaissery noted that the move was aimed at boosting the fight against illicit brew, drugs and crime.
According to the interior CS, the transferred officers were supposed to report to their new stations immediately. He asked them to strive at initiating positive change.
“These transfers takes shape immediately and any officer not at the proposed station by September 6 will face disciplinary action,” he said.
He further noted that the officers would be held accountable for anything happening at the new stations because they everything had been confirmed by the National Police Service.
The move sees long serving but successful officers from different parts changed stations which according to Nkaissery were aimed at ensuring equality and professionalism in the sector.
Other Counties affected by the promotions were Nyeri (Onesmus Musyoki), Kitui (Boaz Cherutich), Vihiga (Anne Gakuria), Kisumu (John Elungata), Laikipia (Apollo Akelo), Uasin Ngishu (Abdi Hassan), Kakamega (Lucy Mulili), Kirinyaga (Benard Kinyua) and Garissa (Michael Ole Tialal), just to mention but a few.
Nkanatha takes over from Mohammed Birik who has been the County Commissioner for the county ever since the devolved system of government took shape.
Birik has ever since been moved to Samburu County under the same capacity.
