Nongovernmental organisations have been asked to support the health sector in counties by donating funds in a bid to improve service delivery.

According to the Kisii County Health CeC Sarah Omache, support from NGOs will help counties improve health services and also create awareness about diseases.

“As a ministry, we are requesting NGOs to support us with funds so that we can be able to reach out to residents and sensitise them about diseases affecting them,” said Omache.

Her plea comes as doctors from the Flying Doctors Society of Africa are conducting free fistula medical camp at Kisii Level Six Hospital where more than 200 women have been attended to.

“I thank doctors from this organisation as I urge other organisation to help us with such cases so that we can help our people,” she added.

She was speaking at the Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital when she visited patients who have been treated from fistula on Wednesday.

She revealed that her ministry has put in place measures in a bid to reach out to residents to sensitise them about malaria, diabetes and many other diseases.

“We need to reach out to residents and educate them know about diseases. We have a programme towards this end,” noted Omache.
